It’s Winter Break! Joyce’s Career Tip of the Week

Let me take this opportunity to wish all of our Fulton Schools engineers and technologists a Merry Christmas, Happy Chanukah and Kwanza. Whatever holiday you are celebrating (or if you chose not to celebrate at all), enjoy this winter break. Take time to relax, have fun and reflect.

You worked hard this semester. For many of you, the past few weeks were spent studying and working long hours way into the night. Enjoy the days with shorter to-do lists (maybe even a day or two with no demands) and catch up on sleep. Enjoy connecting with your favorite people and engaging in the activities of your choice!

Find some quiet moments for thinking and reflecting. What have you discovered about yourself? Are there things you can do differently that will make next semester easier and less stressful? Based on what you learned this semester, do you have any new ideas about career plans? Are there new topics you want to learn and/or different activities you want to try? Do you need to adjust your time and schedule so that you can do more of what is most important to you?

Soon it will be 2018 and the spring semester will begin. Then, a few weeks will go by and it will be February – time for prep sessions and the Fulton Schools Spring Career Fair. If you are looking for a summer internship or a job after graduation, do not miss the spring recruiting season!

The Career Centers will be open over the break. If you want to use this time to start getting career-fair-ready, use Handshake to schedule an appointment.

Finally, celebrate your accomplishments and be good to yourselves! Happy Holidays from all of us at the Fulton Schools Career Center.
