Campus recruiting — Joyce’s Career Tip of the Week

This week is an exciting time when there are lots of employers on campus attending career fairs, hosting information sessions and conducting interviews. It is important to know that the fall campus recruiting season does extend beyond this week. There are things that you can do to continue your search for a job or an internship.

Not all employers seeking ASU students choose to come to a career fair. Some post positions on Handshake and select candidates for interviews.

Continue to check Handshake — at least once a week — to look for new internship and full-time job postings. Be aware of application deadlines.

Many employers who attend the career fair this week will be conducting interviews later this semester.

Use the “Career Interest” section to set up filters based on your preferences. This will enable Handshake to alert you about positions that match your selected criteria.

Set filters in “Notifications” so you will receive reminders that will help you to keep track of events and interviews.

As you move through the semester, responsibilities for classes and campus activities increase. Staying on top of things, keeping up with homework and projects does get challenging. Look at your weekly and daily schedules to find those blocks of time that you can dedicate to your internship/job search. This is one of the peak times of the year when recruiters are looking for college students and soon-to-be graduates. Let Handshake help to make it easier for chosen employers to find you.
