This week is special! Joyce’s Career Tip of the Week

Silhouette of a person cheering. This is the last full week before the start of the fall semester. Many of you have finished, or are finishing, your summer internships. Others might have been taking classes, working, traveling, volunteering or doing research over the summer. Soon, you will be falling into the pattern of classes, homework and schedules filled with other commitments. Make time this week to do at least one thing, if not several, that you really enjoy.

Maybe you are someone who enjoys solitude and being outdoors (somewhere cooler than the Valley) and you have spent all summer working in an office interacting with lots of people. Plan a day or two to get away. On the other hand, perhaps you spent the summer out of town (or out of the country) and have not seen your friends and/or family since May … and you have really missed them. Make plans to connect with them this week!

I am not going write about upcoming events, nor tell you all that you have to do to get job or internship ready — this week. This is your time to relax and have fun so you will be ready for the upcoming semester. Be good to yourself!
