Summer Research Internships (SURI) 2022 applications open December 1 — learn about pursuing a doctorate!

The Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University offers paid summer research internships for qualified U.S. citizens and permanent residents, and volunteer positions for international students. Students will gain engineering research experience at a top research university and an in-depth understanding of what it would be like to pursue a doctoral degree.  Participants will work under the mentorship of faculty members from various engineering programs to pursue 8-week-long research projects from Wednesday, May 25, 2022, to Friday, July 22, 2022. Available research projects include both in-person and virtual options.

Students across all branches of engineering are welcome to apply. Students between the junior and senior years of their undergraduate degree and those pursuing master’s degrees who are interested in earning a doctorate will be given highest consideration.

In addition to valuable research experience, SURI participants attend guest lectures presented by industry partners and top research faculty, engage in social and networking activities, and benefit from other support services and resources designed to prepare them for further research and study at the master’s degree and doctoral degree level.

Qualified U. S. citizens and permanent residents selected for the summer internship will earn a U.S. $5,000 stipend.

Non-US citizens are welcome and encouraged to apply and if selected will work on a volunteer basis (no stipend provided).  Non-US citizens who participate in in-person research projects will be charged a program fee of U.S. $1,000.  Non-U. S. citizens who are selected for in-person projects must be eligible to obtain work authorization or be eligible for the J-1 visa and able to support themselves financially and provide their own travel.
