On Thursday, ASU President Crow and Tami Erwin, Executive Vice President and CEO of Verizon Business, announced a new partnership to bring Verizon 5G Ultra Wideband to the university. Telehealth, remote farming, XR learning and digital equity are among the leading concepts enhanced by the 5G network Verizon is bringing to the university. As an ASU student, you are invited to be among the first to explore how we can leverage this cutting-edge technology to create solutions that directly impact our communities.
ASU’s Learning Futures, now powered by Verizon 5G, is hosting a two-day Verizon 5G and MEC (Multi-access Edge Computing) Digital Equity Student Jam and you are invited to participate!

On Friday, connect with industry leaders from ASU, Verizon, AWS and more to learn about how 5G and MEC technology offers significantly higher capacity and increased bandwidth to enhance the innovative work taking place across the university. Then, split into teams and jam collaboratively with fellow students and mentors to design new ways we can use 5G and MEC technology to improve the ways in which we live, work and learn. On Saturday, teams will enter a panel-led pitch competition with prizes for up to three finalist teams!
The Jam’s grand prize is an exclusive spot in a full-time summer accelerator program with VentureWell where two ASU students will receive intensive entrepreneurial training from June-August 2022 and $8,500 in living stipends for each team member. Other finalist teams will have the opportunity to win up to $5,000 in project seed funding,
