When industrial engineering is at its best, it lives at the intersection of data, people and real-world impact. That’s the spirit behind the Douglas C. Montgomery Distinguished Lecture Series, an annual event that brings leading voices in industrial and systems engineering to the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence, part of the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University, to explore the field’s biggest ideas, toughest challenges and most promising opportunities.

This year’s lecture continues that tradition with a timely and compelling talk from Yuehwern Yih, a nationally recognized leader in industrial engineering and the Tompkins Professor of Industrial Engineering at Purdue University. Yih’s work spans health care, humanitarian aid and global supply chains.

The 2026 Douglas C. Montgomery Distinguished Lecture will take place on Friday, April 17, 2026, from 3:30–4:30 p.m. in the Paul C. Helmick Center, followed by a Q&A session and a reception. Faculty, students, staff and community members are encouraged to attend.
