Join the School of Electrical, Computer and Energy Engineering, and the ASU Center for Semiconductor Microelectronics, for a distinguished seminar with Mirela Alistar, assistant professor at the University of Colorado Boulder.
Biology is still executed as manual craft: protocols are difficult to standardize, hard to reproduce across labs and slow to scale. Alistar’s research treats biology as a computing and systems problem, and builds general frameworks and automatic workflows for executable biology. Alistar weaves in two research areas: Programmable microfluidic biochips that run assays as cyber-physical programs and computational pipelines that prioritize and interpret biological candidates at genomic scale.
