Help shape the future of aviation through AI
What if your next project could help pilots navigate dangerous weather, identify emerging in-flight risks or make better decisions in the cockpit?
The AI Challenge for Pilot Assist gives students in the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering at Arizona State University the opportunity to work on real-world aviation challenges through a collaboration between Honeywell Aerospace Technologies and the School of Computing and Augmented Intelligence, part of the Fulton Schools.
Faculty-led student teams will develop innovative AI-driven solutions focused on areas such as human performance, natural language processing, emergency response and flight planning. Potential projects include creating systems that connect pilot actions with air traffic control instructions or developing AI tools that summarize Notices to Airmen, or NOTAMs, and provide real-time alerts based on flight conditions.
In addition to tackling meaningful industry problems, participants will gain valuable experience working with faculty mentors and Honeywell experts while exploring the intersection of artificial intelligence, aviation and human-machine teaming.
Interested students should connect with a faculty member to form or join a team. The first team application deadline is July 31.
