In my recent columns, I’ve been writing about preparing for the upcoming career fairs. This week, I am delighted to introduce you to our guest blogger, Nathan Jack, senior project manager at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Carlsbad, California. Jack earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees in industrial engineering from the Fulton Schools in 2013 and 2014, respectively. He will be part of his company’s recruiting team at the Fulton Schools Career Fair on Wednesday, February 21, 2018.
There are only two weeks until the Fulton Schools Career Fair. Check out the Career Center’s calendar of events to help you prepare, and see Events in Handshake for more details.
In addition to doing research on the companies attending career fairs, perfecting your pitch and putting together your professional image, you absolutely need to be ready for interviewing. Some companies will conduct screening interviews at the career fair and many will be holding first-round interviews on campus the day after the career fair.
Students who have been to interview workshops, talked to professionals about interviewing or have done online research already know about the STAR format for answering questions in an interview.
Continuing the countdown to the Fulton Schools Career Fair – we are now three weeks away! You want to maximize the amount of time you will have for talking to employers, and you want to be relaxed and confident. Planning ahead — by taking care of details and adapting your schedule — will certainly help!
In the weeks preceding the Fulton Schools Spring Career Fair, the Career Center will be offering in-person presentations and webinars on a variety of topics to help you prepare, as well as rapid résumé reviews by employers. We want to ensure that you will be able to present your “best selves” to prospective employers.
