Students participate in the Professional Ethics Induction Ceremony.

Are you a graduating Fulton Schools student in an ABET-accredited engineering or a computer science program? If so, please consider participating in the Fall 2022 Professional Ethics Induction Ceremony!

Order of the Engineer and Pledge of the Computing Professional are rite-of-passage ceremonies for students graduating in engineering and computing sciences programs. Both ceremonies promote and recognize the ethical and moral behavior of graduates as they transition from a student to a working professional.

Graduate student Mounika Kakarla conducts researchThe Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering encourages students from all backgrounds to pursue research opportunities with the Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative (FURI), Master’s Opportunity for Research in Engineering (MORE), and Grand Challenges Scholars Program (GCSP). Learn how to build a competitive research application by attending the Fulton Schools Research Resource Fair and hearing from these resources:

  • Current FURI/MORE faculty mentors and doctoral students: Hear directly from faculty on current research opportunities and lab expectations/culture.
  • Fulton Schools Career Center: Build a strong resume/CV to submit to prospective faculty mentors.
  • ASU Engineering/STEM Librarian: Learn about library resources including how to prepare literature reviews and research questions.
  • ASU Writing Center: Receive tips on crafting a strong personal statement.
  • Current FURI/MORE students: Hear from students on their research experience, from the application phase to working in their research lab.
  • Fulton Schools Business Office Staff: Learn about general purchasing procedures to create a supply budget request.

Attending the Fair will give you all the tools you need to submit a competitive application ahead of the Spring 2023 FURI and MORE deadline: Wednesday, October 19, 2022.

The EPICS Program engages students in a year-long, extensive design project working with an international team of interdisciplinary students. Students will learn human-centered design and social innovation through the development of a real-world solution to difficult community challenges. The two semesters of one or two-credit hour design-based service-learning courses will culminate in an intensive experience of design collaboration, rapid prototyping, field testing, and cultural immersion in Vietnam and Spain.

These global education programs run twice per academic year. The Pre-Spring Vietnam program will run from Wednesday, December 28, 2022–Saturday, January 7, 2022, and the Spring Break Spain program will run from Saturday, March 4, 2022–Saturday, March 11, 2022. Priority will be given to current/former students in the EPICS program.

As one of the FACES of the Fulton Schools, you will get a $2,000 stipend and build your ASU network. You will also get priority review for applications to Fulton Schools student leader roles after you complete the FACE program. Some examples of student leader roles you can apply to starting your second year are ASU 101 Section Lead, Undergraduate Teaching Assistant, Peer Mentor and so many more!

Students will learn human-centered design and social innovation through the development of a real-world solution to difficult community challenges. The two semesters of one or two-credit hour design-based service-learning courses will culminate in an intensive experience of design collaboration, rapid prototyping, field testing and cultural immersion in Vietnam.

The Vietnam global education program runs twice per academic year (Pre-Fall and Pre-Spring). Dates for the 2022 Pre-Spring program are Wednesday, December 28, 2022–Saturday, January 7, 2022.

Apply by Sunday, September 25, 2022! 

Priority will be given to current/former students in the EPICS program with less than two semesters of project experience.

Students without any EPICS program experience who apply before Friday, September 9, 2022, will be placed on a waitlist in chronological order.
