Important updates to the Fulton Schools Convocation ceremony, May 12

Decorated mortarboardPresident Crow has announced that ASU’s commencement will be held online. All college convocations will also be pre-recorded and presented online. Students graduating this semester will be offered the opportunity to walk in Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 ceremonies. Special interest convocations will be held in December 2020 or May 2021.

Get the latest information about the Fulton Schools Convocation ceremony at convocation.engineering.asu.edu.

New Convocation registration is required!

A new registration form was sent to all graduating students on Monday, April 6, 2020. You must register or re-register for Convocation.

  • If you’ve already registered to walk at Convocation, please register again to participate in the online ceremony. We apologize for the inconvenience.
  • If you register by Monday, April 27, 2020, you can have a photo and personal statement included in your slide.

Apply to be an Investment Banking Industry Scholar (IBIS) by April 13

Fulton undergraduates, are you interested in investment banking? Apply to be a Scholar. Deadline is Monday, April 13, 2020. Virtual interviews will be held for selected candidates during the two weeks following the deadline.

The IBIS program is a career program offered through the W. P. Carey School of Business dedicated to educating students on the investment banking industry.

IBIS Course Description:

  • Focus on investment banking organizational structures, products, risks, earnings, regulations, innovations and competition.
  • Analyze the functions of the “banking” business (corporate finance advisory, M&A, debt and equity capital markets), the “sales and trading” business (client-related sales and trading and proprietary trading) and other investment banking-related businesses (e.g., asset management, hedge funds, private equity, venture capital).
  • Review new, innovative Wall Street securities, instruments and advisory products.
  • Explore investment banking relationships with corporate and institutional clients.

Women and students in STEM are highly encouraged to participate.

Apply for undergraduate research funding with FURI by May 1 — deadline extended!

Enhance your engineering and technical undergraduate and graduate curriculum by getting hands-on lab experience, independent and thesis-based research and the opportunity to travel to professional conferences! Applications are now open for Summer 2020, Fall 2020 and Spring 2021 programs.

Undergraduate students can apply to the Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative, known as FURI.

Graduate students can apply to the Master’s Opportunity for Research in Engineering or MORE program.

Students in FURI and MORE develop an idea under the mentorship of a Fulton Schools faculty member, then apply for funding. Once accepted, they perform research, attend workshops, prepare research summaries, and participate in the research symposium.

Apply to FURI by noon on Friday, May 1, 2020 — deadline extended!

This presentation will describe how the Center for Education Through Exploration at ASU is working with NASA and others to pioneer new approaches to meet this challenge.
