Celebrate a tradition-filled weekend packed with fun activities for all Sun Devils: Family Weekend 2018 is almost here!

Family Weekend is for everyone — faculty, staff, students, family members, friends and alumni– and takes place September 28–30, 2018. Be sure to spread the word! All events require registration for each family member in attendance through the Family Weekend website. The Fulton Schools will host events at both the Tempe and Polytechnic campuses.

Apply for fall 2018–spring 2019 Dean’s Funding by noon, September 12

Registered Fulton Student Organizations are eligible to apply for Fall 2018-Spring 2019 Dean’s Funding by noon on September 12, 2018 for funding to support your organization’s activities that meet the IRA’S standard, and get more connected to the Fulton Schools community.

Student organizations are encouraged to apply for funding for events, projects, and/or activities that meet the IRA Standard:

  • Interaction: encourage student interaction with faculty, staff, or industry
  • Recognition: brings prestige and recognition to the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering
  • Academic: enhance the engineering or technical education of students
  • Student mentoring: facilitates peer-to-peer student mentoring

Proposals must be reviewed and signed by your faculty/staff advisor.

Organizations who have questions about the Dean’s Funding process that are not answered on the Dean’s Funding page are encouraged to contact Cortney Loui, coordinator-student engagement, by making an appointment.

Inspire the next generation of female engineers at Girls Make-A-Thon — submit proposals by September 14

Are you interested in shaping the next generation of female engineers? Join the Fulton Schools K12 Engineering Education and Outreach team at the 2018 Girls Make-A-Thon event for high school students!

Submit a proposal to facilitate a 40-minute workshop, panel or presentation for the participants. Submissions should be engaging and interactive, have a focus on building a career in an engineering field or teach an engineering skill.

Tutor refugee students with COAR, apply by August 31

Community Outreach and Advocacy for Refugees is a student organization that supports refugees in the area. We tutor refugee elementary school students at Crockett Elementary School.

These children often fall behind and need extra help, and so we work with the teachers of Crockett to provide personalized tutoring!

In recent years, there has been an increased interest in space exploration mostly because of Elon Musk and his company SpaceX. The launching of the Falcon Heavy and Starman into space was something millions of people tuned in to watch live.

Due to this interest and the BASE 11 Space Challenge, HELIOS Rocketry was founded.

The Base 11 Space Challenge is a $1 million+ prize for the first student-led team to design, test and launch a liquid-propelled, single stage rocket to an altitude of 100 kilometers (The Karman Line) by December 30, 2021.

Helios Rocketry is a team formed in response to this challenge and we are currently looking to add more members to our team!
