This 2021 edition of Essential Reading marks a decade of annual book recommendations to students from Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering faculty and staff members.

Once again, they’ve chosen books that can help guide students on their journeys through college and into careers or provide valuable insights into intriguing and important topics.

Others recommend books offering astute perspectives on society, education, the human condition and life’s many challenges. Some select books that are simply entertaining diversions from the daily grind.

The Engineering Academic Integrity Office is hosting virtual ceremonies for students interested in being inducted into the Order of the Engineer or taking the Pledge of the Computing Professional. Graduating seniors, alumni and faculty of ABET-accredited engineering programs are invited to participate.

This semester, graduate students and their families and friends can purchase commemorative gifts online through The Commencement Group’s website. Purchase gifts today!

All gifts will be shipped directly to the customer. Gift items ordered by Tuesday, December 1, 2020, will be produced and delivered on or before Monday, December 14, 2020.

ASU virtual graduation toolkitYou’ve worked hard to earn your degree and now it’s time to celebrate! Make plans with your family and friends to watch the university’s Commencement ceremony and the Fulton Schools’ Convocation on Monday, December 14, 2020. All ceremonies will be available to watch at 9 a.m. MST at

Record your selfie video! Upload a personal “Thank You” clip to be included with your ceremony recognition from StageClip. When you register for ceremonies, you will find a link to upload your video. This link is unique to your registration. If you don’t go through your unique link, upload your video on the general StageClip site. Your StageClip will be available on Monday, December 14, 2020.

If you are an undergraduate student who is eligible for academic honors (Cum Laude, Magna Cum Laude or Summa Cum Laude), the university will mail honor cords to you. Review information about honor cords.

Get social! We want to celebrate your achievements. Use #ASUGrad when posting photos and videos from your celebration to social media for a chance to be featured on ASU’s social media accounts on Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, LinkedIn and YouTube.
