Bayer Alka-Rocket Application Deadline

November 1, 2019

Alka-Rocket ChallengeReady to take science and engineering to new heights?

Bayer is partnering with Guinness World Records in its third annual Alka-Rocket Challenge to set a new record for the highest launch of an Alka-Rocket, a film canister rocket fueled by the chemical reaction of effervescent tablets and water.

The challenge is open to student teams from four-year accredited universities in the U.S. For their proposals, teams must submit the design of their rocket as well as a video detailing their approach and design.

The current record to beat is 833 feet, achieved last year by a team from Brigham Young University.

Submit your proposal by Friday, November 1, 2019

Submissions will be judged by a NASA Astronaut, the Vice President of Quality for Bayer U.S. and a NASA-affiliated expert from Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex.

Five finalists from the competition will have the opportunity to travel to the Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex on December 12 to compete for a grand prize of $25,000 and, if the new world record is set, an additional $5,000 along with the title.
