Data Carpentry Training: Intro to R for Geospatial Data

March 8, 9:00 am - March 9, 4:00 pm

ASU will be offering our first Carpentries Introduction to R for Geospatial Data online course on Monday, March 8 and Tuesday, March 9, 2021. The purpose of this workshop is to provide an introduction to R for learners working with geospatial data. The Carpentries logo

Besides an introduction to R, the attendees will also learn how to open, work with and plot vector and raster-format geospatial data. Attendees are not required to have previous knowledge of the tools that will be presented at the workshop, and all levels of learners are encouraged to attend.

The Carpentries is an organization that trains and fosters an active, inclusive, diverse community of learners and instructors that promotes and models the importance of software and data in research. This workshop will include highly sought after practical training and is widely applicable across different contexts. Due to high demand, there is usually a 4+ month wait to receive this training. Carpentry workshops are taught by trained, peer, volunteer instructors. All of our instructors complete an Instructor Training program, which teaches instructional pedagogy. ASU is a proud member of The Carpentries organization.
