The advent of ultrashort light sources with ever expanding capabilities has spawned powerful new means to explore fundamental phenomena in biology, chemistry and physics along with novel applications. Kaindl will highlight recent trends in the field and discuss work covering both the development of ultrafast light sources from terahertz up to extreme ultraviolet wavelengths and their application to the investigation of rapid cooperative dynamics in quantum materials.
About the speaker
Kaindl is a senior quantum materials and ultrafast physics leader focused on high temperature superconductors and nanoscale materials science. He is a member of the American Physical Society and was topical editor of the Journal of Optical Society of America from 2010 to 2016 and won the MST SPOT Award at Lawrence Berkeley National Lab in 2011. He received his doctorate in physics summa cum laude from Humboldt University of Berlin, Germany in 2000, and completed his postdoctoral training at U.S. Berkeley and Lawrence Berkeley Lab in 2003.
