We are pleased to announce the inaugural Regents’ Cup

We are looking for a committed, dynamic, diverse and innovative group of students to apply to be on the ASU team in the inaugural competition. Applicants should be full-time students at any level (first-year through graduate students), have a 2.5 or higher cumulative GPA, and be willing to train, rehearse and learn during the summer and fall. The Regents plan to award scholarship support to the members of the winning teams.
The Regents’ Cup is:
A celebration of free speech, civil discourse and democratic engagement at Arizona’s public universities, the Regents’ Cup engages students in rigorous debate anchored by respect and civil discourse. The Regents’ Cup provides an opportunity for students to compete through debate for scholarships and course credit in an engaging competition showcasing the commitment of the universities to upholding the intrinsic rights of all students to liberty and freedom of speech.
The culminating event will be a tri-university competition at the University of Arizona on Saturday, November 16, 2019. Each university will be represented by a team of 18 students who will participate in debate, civil dialogue and persuasive storytelling, drawing on personal narratives in social and cultural contexts.
