Order of the Engineer Fall 2017 Ceremony
November 15, 2017, 5:30 pm - 7:30 pm
Are you graduating this fall? Join the Order of the Engineer on Wednesday, November 15, 2017!
Order of the Engineer is a commitment to uphold the Oath in engineering practice. The Order consists of individuals seeking to uphold the integrity, honesty and values all engineers should possess to better society. It is a lifelong commitment that begins with this Ring Ceremony. The ring is a symbol of the commitment to the Oath and is worn on the small finger of the working hand.
As part of the one-time $15 membership fee, you will receive a ring to wear. Include your ring size on the registration form if known (the small finger of your working hand). The sizing can also be completed prior to the initiation by going to the Engineering Student Engagement office in Engineering Center F-Wing (ECF) 130 front desk.
Graduating undergrads, alumni and faculty are invited to attend. Students — both undergraduate and graduate — who are completing an ABET-accredited program this semester can join the Order of the Engineer.
The Order of the Engineer is an association of engineers dedicated to the teaching, administration or practice of their profession. To be initiated, you adhere to a professional creed and accept a stainless steel ring to be worn on the working hand. The obligation is voluntary and for life.
The Order of the Engineer strives to:
- Develop a spirit of pride and responsibility in the engineering profession
- Strengthen the interface between training for and the practice of engineering
- Present the public with a visible symbol identifying the engineer
