Are you a current or incoming master’s degree or doctoral student at ASU interested in medical devices, implants, manufacturing or health-focused engineering? The NSF Research Traineeship, or NRT, in Medical Device Manufacturing and Design offers graduate students the opportunity to advance their research while receiving $35,900 per year in stipend support, full tuition coverage and access to distinct academic, clinical and industry experiences.
What you’ll gain as an NRT trainee
- Conduct research alongside an ASU faculty advisor.
- Learn from experts through interdisciplinary NRT courses and seminars.
- Participate in a residency at Mayo Clinic.
- Intern with the ASU Health Care Accelerator.
- Build professional skills through workshops and mentorship.
- Explore patenting and commercialization support.

Eligibility
Applicants must be U.S. citizens or permanent residents to receive stipend and tuition support.
