About the program

The USDOT Women & Girls In Transportation Initiative, known as WITI, offers an internship program enabling young women from colleges and universities across the country to participate. The WITI internship program is administered through the department’s Small Business Transportation Resource Centers, or SBTRC, which provides resources, technical assistance and outreach to all 50 states and U.S. territories. Each SBTRC is responsible for placing qualified female college students in transportation-related internships throughout their regions.

How to apply

1. Eligibility check: Ensure that you are a student from a Minority Serving Institution (MSI) with an interest in transportation-related fields. Students from Black, Hispanic, Asian and Native American backgrounds are encouraged to apply!

3. Secure an internship: Apply and secure an internship position with a business, organization or institution.
