Are you ready to hack for a better planet?

SpaceHACK for Sustainability is back March 27–28, 2026, for its annual two-day hackathon at Hayden Library and online, led by the ASU Library Unit for Data Science and Analytics and ASU Interplanetary Initiative, where ASU students turn satellite data into real solutions for sustainability.

Think reducing waste, decarbonizing supply chains and protecting vulnerable ecosystems. This hackathon brings in students, faculty and experts to handle global sustainability, challenged with satellite data. With workshops, mentorship and prizes, SpaceHACK is more than a competition — it’s a chance to connect, innovate and make an impact.

Sponsored by the W. P. Carey School of Business Center for Responsible Supply Chain Management, SpaceHACK brings together students from every major and program at ASU.

Here’s what you can dive into:

  • Team up with Sun Devils from different backgrounds.
  • Experiment with Earth-observation data and hands-on tools.
  • Build ideas and prototypes you can showcase as real steps toward a more sustainable future.

2026 challenge tracks

Students will choose from three sustainability-focused tracks:

  • From port to planet: Tracking the net-zero supply chain.
  • Nature’s flood wall: Mangroves and coastal city.
  • Truth from orbit: Climate change and the alpine information battle.

No experience with satellite data? No problem. We’ll provide the tools and support, and you bring your curiosity, creativity and drive to make a difference. Join us in person or online, wherever you are.
