Get hands-on with scanning electron microscopy, Aug. 27–28

Want to learn how engineers and researchers use scanning electron microscopy, or SEM, to examine materials at the microscopic level? Join us for the upcoming Materials Characterization with Scanning Electron Microscopy microcredential!

Led by Fabiano Carvalho, this hands-on course will introduce you to the fundamentals of SEM and give you practical experience preparing samples, safely operating a benchtop SEM and acquiring and interpreting high-quality images for materials analysis.

You’ll build skills in:

• Understanding the underlying physics of SEM.
• Preparing metals, polymers and ceramics for SEM analysis.
• Operating a benchtop SEM safely and effectively.
• Acquiring and interpreting SEM images to evaluate material structure and properties.

Cost: $25 for ASU students.
