The FURI Symposium is now the Fulton Forge Student Research Expo

Each semester, the FURI Symposium has been a signature Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering event at which students share their research findings. Named after the Fulton Undergraduate Research Initiative, or FURI, program, the event has expanded over the years to include additional undergraduate and graduate research programs, such as the Master’s Opportunity for Research in Engineering and students funded by the Grand Challenges Scholars Program research stipend. Because the event has become more expansive, we needed a new way to refer to it.

The event’s new name — the Fulton Forge Student Research Expo — is inclusive of the diversity of the students who participate and the spirit of the culmination of their hard work to forge innovative research paths to solve real-world problems.

The students you’ll meet at the Fulton Forge Student Research Expo are just like those who participated in the FURI Symposium in past semesters. They’re ambitious, curious learners who have conducted independent research under the guidance of a faculty mentor and present the findings of their work with the community at a semiannual poster session open to the public.
