To our new students, welcome to the Ira A. Fulton Schools of Engineering. Academic integrity is the foundation of your academic experience at the Fulton Schools.
Is it an integrity violation to allow a group project partner to cheat on your portion of the work? Did you know that self-plagiarism is a thing? Is your computer code yours alone?
Academic integrity is the cornerstone of everything the Fulton Schools does. As the 2024 spring semester kicks off, students are challenged to “Dare to Dream and Pledge to Uphold” the ASU student honor code.
One tip for dealing with a bad week is to be committed to learning from your mistakes. Once you see both your assignment successes, and failures, as opportunities to improve your personal learning system, it’s a game changer. At the end of each week, think about the study habits that worked well for you and those that didn’t.
Following instructions does not mean letting go of your creativity, but it does mean that every exam, assignment, or class/job project has a set of parameters or regulations that must be followed.
When you treat yourself and others as a professional, and you aim high with your expectations about completing your work with academic honesty, you feel better about yourself and provide an important contribution to the Fulton Schools learning community.
As final exams draw near, some students will study in advance, while others will procrastinate and wait till the very last minute to finish projects and cram for examinations. Are you one of those students making the difficult decision to choose studying over other distractions? If so, keep up the excellent work! If not, get your study habits corrected before it’s too late!
